About Us

What is BRPL?

BakerReed Properties Ltd is an independent property lettings & relocation company. We started up in 2005 after years of working for other lettings agents, with one aim: to treat every landlord, property and tenant as unique.

Who is BRPL?

BRPL are Lyndon Baker and Cheryll Reed.

Lyndon

Lyndon is the Managing Director and does most of the administrative work for BRPL. Frequently found slaving over a hot PC, he deals with Landlord and Tenant enquiries, Property Management and Maintenance issues. He also contributes to a number of property forum websites and spends a lot of time keeping up to date with the latest developments in Lettings law. Lyndon lives in Weston-super-Mare with his partner and several feline companions, and enjoys pottering in his garden when he's not working for BRPL.

Cheryll

Cheryll is our Sales Director and does most of the viewings and valuations. She's often out on the road (look out for the silver BRPL Subaru - you might hear it before you see it...) and when she's not talking to clients she can often be found sipping a caffe latte in one of Clifton's numerous cafes. Cheryll lives in North Bristol with her two Siamese cats, and in her time off she likes to jet off to far-away (and preferably hot!) locations to relax by the pool.

Where are you based?

BRPL is based in the area around Bristol, extending up as far as South Gloucestershire and down as far as Somerset.

Do you have an office?

We're often asked "where is your office?". The answer is that at present, we don't have a physical office. The reasons are twofold.

Firstly, there's no point in having an office if your staff are mostly "out on the road". Cheryll is frequently out doing viewings, valuing properties, meeting clients - and having her regular fix of caffe latte. Lyndon is usually available on the main BRPL number, even when he's "out of the office" as well.

Secondly, by working mainly over the internet, and by phone or email, we can reduce our operating costs significantly when compared to agents who have to pay rent on an office. This gives us the flexibility to negotiate deals which other agents couldn't afford, and to pass on those savings to clients.

Are you members of any professional bodies?

Yes, we are members of the National Approved Letting Scheme which is a Government backed accreditation scheme which offers peace of mind to Landlords and Tenants through the knowledge that the firm they are dealing with offers clearly defined levels of customer service. As a condition of membership our client monies (rents and deposits) must be held in separate client accounts; we must have a Client Money Protection Policy as well as Professional Indemnity Insurance. In addition our accountants have to submit an annual report to NALS. For more information click the logo!

We are also members of the UK Association of Letting Agents which is the Professional Association for the Lettings industry, promoting high standards and protecting the interests of agents, landlords and tenants. It is a non-profit making organisation registered with the government department responsible for housing. For more information click the logo!

In addition, Lyndon is a member of the Guild of Letting & Management and the Residential Landlords Association.
